Discover Coding I – Fall 2017


A 5-week after-school program for a fun and interactive introduction to computers and coding.



A fun and interactive introduction to computers and coding for students, Ages 8-12 ( Grades 3-6 )

Join us as we guide students through the fundamentals of computers, computing science, game design and coding. Students learn in front of a computer, as well as through unplugged activities. The experience is about problem solving through fun and discovery.

Students will learn coding concepts including algorithms, nested loops, while loops, conditionals, and events. Students will program multiple types of games and projects, Each week they will choose the features they want to build, and advance their problem-solving skills to build these feature using code. They will take ownership of their own projects and collaborate with their peers to create awesome products.

Also, students will also be introduced to physical computing using the Raspberry Pi and circuit boards.  They will start exploring computer parts.

By the end of the session, students will use a visual programming language to create a game they can share with their family and friends!

  • Thursday Session #1: 12:30 – 1:50 PM (80 minutes)
  • Thursday Session #2: 2:30 – 3:50 PM (80 minutes)
  • Thursday Session #3: 4:00 – 5:20 PM (80 minutes)
